Former KTN news anchor Betty Kyalo transitioned from the television screen to become one of the big names in Nairobi business space.
Kyalo has used her influence and followership to build a strong business empire venturing in various sectors including hospitality, beauty and the entertainment sector.
From her celebrated salon to her beauty products and beyond, her entrepreneurial journey is a testament of resilience, creativity and success.
Here are five businesses owned by Betty Kyalo.

After Shave by Flair
Betty launched a barbershop dubbed “After Shave by Flair” in January 2020 next to Taj Towers or UAP Towers, in Upper hill.
During the launch, Betty Kyalo termed the barbershop as “Mens’ Piece of Heaven!” and invited them to visit it to get their hair cut.
“This is just a start. Proud of the journey, my team, myself. God is great! After Shave by Flair! New Barbershop in the City,” she posted on Instagram.
The barbershop provides luxurious grooming experience for men through professional haircuts and massages.
Kyalo extended the barbershop’s operations to Meru County in 2023.
Flair by Betty
‘Flair by Betty’ is just one of the businesses owned by Betty Kyalo.
It is a salon, spa and barber shop located in the heart of Kilimani at the Modern, Grade A quality building.
Betty Kyalo launched the salon in 2018 after quitting the Posh Palace Hair Studio and Spa which she co-founded with her then best friend, Susan Kaittany.
However, the shop was later moved to Rose Avenue in an occasion attended by Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s wife, Mama Ida Odinga.
Kyalo had announced that the businesses needed a more spacious and luxurious location.
The salon offers hair cutting and braiding services, skin and body care, and nail care to popular individuals and celebrities in Kenya.
However, the salon has recently hit a wall after news of its auction which the former journalist confirmed, attributing the blow to difficulties in running a business in the country.
She cited burden of paying rent on businesses that are struggling due to the economic slowdown.

Betty Kyalo Closet
Furthermore, the journalist ventured into a clothing line in March 2021 when she announced the launch of Betty Kyalo Closet.
Kyalo explained that different stores had dressed her for years and it was time to start her own closet company and dress other women.
“Finally, it’s time for me to dress the beautiful Kenyan women who are working hard to be the best they can be. Look Fierce, Make the World Your Playground! Re-introducing @bettykyallocloset” she said.

The mall located within the CBD hosts business premises rented and operated by different people.

The Summer House
Betty ventured into the Hospitality industry with the launch of her restaurant dubbed The Summer House.
The Summer House was officially opened to the public on November 18, 2022, in Karen Lang’ata Constituency.
It hit the headlines in December the same year after residents complained about its operations.
The residents wrote a letter to the Nairobi County accusing the restaurant of playing loud music at night causing inconvenience and discomfort.
Unapologetic by Betty
Betty Kyalo also owns a cosmetics line named “Unapologetic by Betty” whose goal is to encourage women to be confident, bold, and authentic.
Kyalo explained that she created the brand to inspire women to love themselves and express themselves freely.
The brand offers a range of products that cater to different skin tones, types, and preferences.
