Award-winning Kenyan pro-Gymnast Wendy Waeni called out bullies on social media after a photo of her in action got Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) talking.
Wendy, who revealed that she is now 18 years old, has a sizeable following online owing to her unique talent that saw her shoot to the limelight years back.
“Twitter bullies are disgusting,” the talented gymnast who has met several world leaders, including President Paul Kagame of Rwanda noted.
“Thank you to all parents who have enrolled their kids in my program. In less than 48 hours, 143 kids joined the program, something I wasn’t expecting.
For now, the subscription remains closed until further notice. Thanks again to all parents who have trusted their kids with me,” Wendy wrote.
Despite all, she took the space to share a gratitude message, for the support she received from Kenyans, to become a star in a foreign land, China.
“Thank you for joining me on this journey from Huruma slums to Beijing. I hope my story has inspired you to believe in yourself and chase your dreams, no matter where you come from.

The Story of Wendy Waeni
Wendy Waeni is a pro-gymnast born and in Kenya. She started gymnastics at the age of 5 years and later at the age 17 years, she moved to China to pursue her dream.
The pro-gymnastic shares her story of what it was like growing up in Huruma slums.
“Growing up in the Huruma slums was challenging, but it taught me the value of hard work and determination. I faced numerous obstacles, but my passion for gymnastics kept me going. I practiced relentlessly, and my talent was eventually recognized by local coaches and mentors,” Wendy shares.
Furthermore, she disclosed that her life changed when she was invited to perform for the former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“One day, everything changed when I was invited to perform for the President of Kenya. This opportunity opened doors for me, and I started receiving invitations to perform in other countries.
My journey had just begun, and I was determined to make the most of it,” the pro-gymnastic wrote on twitter.
Moving to China
The then 18-year-old pro-gymnast said she opted to relocate to Beijing, China because of her love for gymnastics and work.
“Love made me say goodbye to everything, and everyone in Kenya. I found love in Beijing, China,” she said in part.
“I decided to relocate from Kenya to a new country at the age of 17 years old, all alone.”
Wendy who has been in China for a few months now has been sharing snippets of her life in China through socials, narrating how she is adjusting after moving to a new country.
She says she is in China because of her love for gymnastics and is optimistic that she will be a world star because of her unique talent.
“I moved to Beijing, China, where I continue to pursue my passion for gymnastics. The transition is challenging, but I embraced the new culture and experiences.
I trained hard, competed in various events, and made a name for myself in the gymnastics world.,” Wendy remarks on her moving from Kenya to living in China.
Wendy Meets Ruto
Wendy Waeni met now President William Ruto, while he was the Deputy President.
The gymnastic lately recalled the President and shared a post that read.
“The first thing he told me was ‘I saw you on TV and I decided to visit you.’ The rest is history, always supported my journey,” Wendy recounters how he met Ruto.

Wendy Meets Uhuru
On December 12th, 2014, she met the former Head of State Uhuru Kenyatta, at State House Nairobi, an event that was a turning point in her life.
Then 13 years old, Wendy also had a chance to meet the opposition leader, Raila Odinga back in 2018. She had just completed her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
“A week after completing my KCPE exams, I got a very special chance to meet Baba (Raila), I spent 20 minutes with him, lots of great memories,” Wendy shared.

Before sitting for her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2018, October, Wendy met Wiper leader and Former Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka
“One week before sitting for my KCPE Exams, H.E Kalonzo Musyoka shows up in school to personally deliver a success card to me in school, Daima Primary School. What a kind gesture,” the gymnast remarked.
