Seven individuals lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Uttarakhand, a state in northern India on Sunday, June 15, morning.
Local media reports indicate the helicopter was en route from Dehradun, the state capital, to a well-known pilgrimage destination in the Himalayas.
The chopper, operated by Aryan Aviation, went down shortly after taking off from Kedarnath, a major Hindu pilgrimage site nestled in the Himalayas.
It was en route to Guptkashi, a brief 10-minute flight, when it crashed around 5:30 a.m. in a forested area along the pilgrimage route.
An investigation into the Uttarakhand crash is ongoing as officials work to determine the exact cause and provide support to the victims’ families.

The crash was likely caused by bad weather, according to district tourism official Rahul Chaubey.
Plane Crush in India
The fatal accident comes as relatives mourn at least 279 people killed when a passenger plane slammed into a residential area in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad on Thursday last week.
The flight, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, was carrying 242 people, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Visuals from the scene showed thick black smoke filling the area.
The aircraft went down in the Meghaninagar area shortly after takeoff near the Ahmedabad airport on Thursday afternoon, triggering widespread panic and chaos on the ground.
Tracking website Flightradar24 said it received the last signal from the aircraft at 625 feet (190m) “just seconds after take-off”

KDF Killed in Plane Crush
Tragedy struck in Kwale County on Saturday when a Kenya Air Force aircraft crashed in the Ndavaya area in Kwale County.
Two Kenya Air Force officers were aboard the military aircraft when the incident happened in Ndavaya, Kinango, Kwale County, County Commissioner Stephen Orinde confirmed.
In a statement, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) confirmed that the aircraft experienced an emergency while on a training flight in the vicinity of Mwakijembe Primary School in Kwale County.
“Earlier today, 14th June 2025, a Kenya Air Force Grob 120A aircraft experienced an emergency while on a training flight in the general area of Mwakijembe Primary School, Ndavaya, Kwale County. On Board were two pilots. Recovery is ongoing,” read the statement.
