Tragedy struck in Kwale County on Saturday when a Kenya Air Force aircraft crashed in the Ndavaya area in Kwale County.
Two Kenya Air Force officers were aboard the military aircraft when the incident happened in Ndavaya, Kinango, Kwale County, County Commissioner Stephen Orinde has confirmed.
In a statement, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) confirmed that the aircraft experienced an emergency while on a training flight in the vicinity of Mwakijembe Primary School in Kwale County.
“Earlier today, 14th June 2025, a Kenya Air Force Grob 120A aircraft experienced an emergency while on a training flight in the general area of Mwakijembe Primary School, Ndavaya, Kwale County. On Board were two pilots. Recovery is ongoing,” read the statement.

Emergency response teams, including KAF crash investigators, were dispatched to the crash site to support search and recovery efforts.
The cause of the incident remains unclear, and authorities have launched investigations to determine what led to the tragedy.

Ndavaya Area Chief Naomi Kadama Gofwa stated that residents had seen two planes flying over the area
“I received the information at 12:30 pm that the aircraft had crashed and two people had been injured,” she said.
The crash involved a Kenya Air Force fixed-wing aircraft, a conventional military plane with stationary wings used for training and other operational missions.
According to flight tracking data, the Kenya Air Force aircraft was first recorded near Mombasa, Kenya, at approximately 11:39 AM (EAT) on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Its last known signal was picked up near Diani, Kenya, at around 12:06 PM (EAT).
