The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced the death of Philip Ekuwam Lomuria, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Nanam Ward, Turkana County.
UDA party announced the death of Lomuria in a statement on their X platform.
“With profound sorrow, the UDA Party has learnt of the demise of Hon. Philip Ekuwam Lomuria, the Member of County Assembly for Nanam Ward, Turkana County,” UDA said.
Lomuria also served as the Deputy Speaker of the Turkana County Assembly.
He is mourned as staunch and dedicated member of the UDA Party, who exhibited zeal in undertaking his duties as a legislator at the County Assembly.
UDA sent their condolences to his family, friends and the residents of Nanam Ward.
“As the family, the County Assembly and indeed the residents of Turkana County mourn the loss of their loved one and leader, the UDA Party sends its sincere condolences and stands in solidarity with them at this time of grief. May the soul of our departed colleague rest in eternal peace,” the party added.
Turkana County Condolence Message
Turkana County Speaker Charles Lokiyoto confirmed that Ekuwam passed away on Wednesday, June 11, while receiving treatment.
Lokiyoto mourned him as a leader, mentor, unifier, and a champion of progress.
“His legacy of selfless service will continue to inspire us all,” Lokiyoto said.

The Speaker stated that Lomuria’s leadership was marked by integrity, wisdom, and Unwavering dedication to the betterment of society.
Additionally, Lokiyoto said his contributions to legislation, oversight, and representation have left a lasting impact on the county.
“On behalf of the County Assembly of Turkana, its members, staff, and on my own behalf, I extend heartfelt condolences to his family, the people of Nanam Ward, his friends, and all who were touched by his life,” Lokiyoto said.
“During this difficult time, we stand with his family and assure them of our support. We pray that God grants them strength and comfort. May the Almighty rest his soul in eternal peace.”

Governor Mourns UDA MCA
Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai also eulogised Lomuria as a seasoned and dedicated leader who dedicated his life to serving the public.
“His leadership, humility, and tireless service to his community earned him the respect of many across Turkana,” Lomorukai said.
Philip Lomuria Career
Lomuria started his political career as a councillor.
He was later elected as MCA in both the 2013 and 2017 general elections.
Lomuria served as Deputy Speaker during the two terms.
He successfully defended his seat in the 2022 general elections.
