Bank of Baroda (Kenya) Limited is a bank in Kenya and a subsidiary of India’s Bank of Baroda.
The Bank of Baroda, India, commenced its journey of Overseas Operations on 14th December 1953 by opening a branch on Makadara Road, Mombasa, in Kenya.
Later, another branch was opened at Digo Road in Mombasa. Subsequently, in 2002 Makadara Branch was merged with the Digo Road Branch, Mombasa.
On 21st January 1992, the subsidiary, Bank of Baroda (Kenya) Ltd was incorporated with 86.70% shareholding of the Bank of Baroda, India, and 43 local shareholders constitute the remaining 13.3%.
From the establishment of the first branch along Makadara Road in Mombasa on 14th December 1953, to the expansion of operations to a total of 14 branches in the country.
The bank offers a full range of banking services to its customers, featuring transaction-based banking options such as Internet Banking, RTGS (Domestic), and is prepared to provide cross-border RTGS among East African countries through the East African Payment System (EAPS), Mpassbook, Debit Card, SMS banking, and Mobile banking.
It has a board of management leadership structure that includes Vinay Kumar Rathi as the Managing Director, Sanchit Gupta as the Executive Director, Florence as a Director, Rajesh Amritlal Vadgama as a Non-Executive Director, and Stephen Lugalia as a Non-Executive Director.
Founder of the Bank of Baroda
The bank was founded by the Maharaja of Baroda, Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, on 20 July 1908.
Moreover, along with 13 other major commercial banks of India, it was nationalised on 19 July 1969 by the Government of India and has been designated as a profit-making public sector undertaking (PSU).

Baroda Biashara Loans
- Eligibility: Individuals, Proprietorship & Partnership Firms, Private Ltd, Companies and Registered Societies engaged in the trade of any commodity/goods required by the community and trading in them is not prohibited by law or opposed to public interest (manufacturing unit excluded).
- The business units should have been established in the line of business for a minimum period of 2 years.
- Assessment of working capital limit: Minimum Ksh 1.00 million, Maximum Ksh 30.00 million.
Corporate/SMES Loans
Eligibility: Borrower may be a Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Limited Liability Company, or any other type of constituent permissible under the law, subject to compliance with the relevant formalities and on fulfilment of the Bank’s eligibility criteria and other loan-specific terms and conditions.
Sectors: Export Finance, Manufacturing, Trade, Building & Construction, Tourism, Hotels & Restaurants, Agriculture, Energy, Telecommunications, Service sector, among others.

Insurance Premium Finance (IPF)
Eligibility: Individuals, limited companies, engaged in manufacturing/trading, and other activities not prohibited by law.
Additionally, in the case of Traders, the business should have been established for more than 1 year. The bank provides 100% of the annual insurance premium payable
Loan Against Future Rent Receivables
It offers loans for potential available in the real estate sector and to facilitate leveraging the potential return/income in urban areas, where many commercial properties/shopping complexes are being developed, Bank of Baroda (Kenya) Ltd.
Also, the loan amount offered is a minimum of Ksh 1,000,000 and a maximum of Ksh 200,000,000 (available in USD)
