Kenyatta University (KU) has provided steps on the process of applying for inter/intra school transfer for the 2024/2025 academic year.
KU in an update said that the application process is for students selected to join the school through the Kenya Universities & Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), who wish to change the programs they were placed.
“KUCCPS students wishing to change the program they were placed in may do so by filling in the online transfer form and following the given procedure,” read part of the update by KU.
According to the University, students seeking to apply for course transfer first need to meet set conditions before submitting the online form.
First, students must confirm that they meet the entry points and subject requirement of the degree courses that they are seeking to join.
How to Apply for Kenyatta University Course Transfer
Students are advised to apply and submit the required details for accessing their KUCCPS account, that is Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Index no, KCSE Year and KUCCPS password.

Also, students seeking for transfer are reminded that the transfer is not complete until the student receives an official letter from the Registrar (Academic) informing them that the application has been successful.
KU further noted that transfer is subject to availability of space and that an application does not constitute a transfer.
On the other hand, only applications meeting the deadline will be considered and one can apply for one or a maximum of three programs.
Inter/intra school transfer should strictly be done online except for student registered with People Living with Disabilities (PWDs).

The update comes days after the Ministry of Education nullified fee structures for all first-year students placed in KU and other universities by KUCCPS which had earlier been communicated to the first years by respective universities.
Fee Structures Nullified
Dr Beatrice Inyangala, the Permanent Secretary (PS) State Department for Higher Education and Research in a July 20, 2024, letter advised students and parents to ignore earlier communication from the institutions, adding that a new fee structure would be issued by respective universities.

“Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) placed the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2023 Cohort of students in various degree programs.
The Ministry of Education wishes to inform the public, particularly parents/guardians of students, and students that the fees to be paid by students and their families/guardians as relates to the full cost of each degree program as previously communicated in the admission letters is hereby nullified, and does not apply anymore,” read part of the statement.
PS Inyangala assured the first years and their parents/guardians that their placement in the respective academic programs remains unchanged.
Following the nullification, Universities have since started issuing directives to students who are set to join the institutions.
Egerton University in an update on July 24, 2024, advised students with admission letters from the university are advised to go ahead and register on our portal as earlier communicated, with or without school fees.
According to the institution, fees payable will be communicated once the government finalizes the processes.
