Agoro Sare High School is an extra-county boys’ school in Rachuonyo South Sub-County, Homa Bay County.
The school was established in 1963 as a one-streamed school under the visionary leadership of Mr. J.E. Mbori as the first Principal and Mr. Gedeon M. Abon’g as the chairman of the Board of Management.
That same year, the late President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta visited the school and donated funds for the construction of three dormitories, enabling the institution to introduce a second stream.
In 1968, the then Vice President and Minister for Home Affairs, the late Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, officially opened the school.
Agoro Sare launched a single-stream A-Level Arts program in 1971 before the second stream was commissioned two years later.
The advent of the 8-4-4 system necessitated the incorporation of a third stream.
Agoro Sare had grown to an enrollment of 2,350 students as of 2023 and now accommodates students under the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Seventeen administrators have steered the school since its inception.
Also, the school boasts a distinguished list of alumni who have excelled in various fields, including former Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Executive Secretary Akello Misori, and former Nairobi County Governor Evans Kidero among many others.
