The Amazement Park in Uasin Gishu county linked to the drowning of five KCPE candidates has announced their closure.
The management in a statement noted that the closure is temporary, and they will be resuming operations in time.
“We are temporarily closed until further notice, kindly bear with us, thank you,” read the notice in part.
The park hit news headlines in the early weeks of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education preparations following a drowning incident that claimed the lives of five candidates who were on a school trip.

Amazement Park Tragedy
Five Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates of Arap Moi primary school in Tarakwa Uasin Gishu County died after a boat they were riding in at the popular amusement park capsized.

The tragedy according to the authorities struck the school on Saturday, October 28 at about 5pm in what was meant to be a fun day out for the five KCPE candidates.
According to the police, the five were part of a group of Standard Six and Standard Eight pupils accompanied by teachers to a hotel for recreational activities.
However, the pupils upon arrival at the amusement park took a boat ride on the man-made dam when it capsized.
Candidate Who Survived
According to police reports, only one of the pupils onboard the boat survived the gruesome ordeal and was rushed to the hospital.
“Only one of those who were in the boat and who is a class six pupil survived, “police said then.
The pupil was rushed to Burnt Forest Sub County Hospital and later to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical attention after the incident.
Further the teams from the fire brigade and the Kenya Red Cross Society were at the scene to retrieve the bodies which were later moved to Burnt Forest Hospital where they were confirmed dead.
Afterwards the bodies of the deceased were moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) morgue.

Action to The Amazement Park owners
Similarly on 30th October Police in Eldoret arrested two people following the tragic boat-riding incident that occurred in the man-made dam.
The detectives while visiting the dam along the Kapsengweti stream apprehended the directors of Amazement Park, which holds the water body.
The duo who reportedly owns the park are a man and his wife.
Uasin Gishu county police commander Benjamin Mwanthi confirmed the arrests, noting that an inquest file has been opened by DCI Ainabkoi.
Notably, the students were buried after a requiem mass held on November 4, 2023.
