President William Ruto is set to tour Nyanza before leading the Madaraka Day celebrations in Homa Bay County on June 1, 2025.
This year’s Madaraka Day celebrations will focus on the theme ‘Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs’, in line with Kenya’s commitment to harnessing aquatic resources for sustainable development.
The main venue for the 2025 Madaraka Day celebrations will be the newly refurbished Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay. Here is the detailed itinerary ahead of Madaraka Day
Ruto’s itinerary on Thursday
On Thursday morning, leaders are scheduled to convene at Sony Sugar Grounds in Migori, where discussions are expected to focus on persuasive engagement.
In the afternoon, President Ruto is expected to tour the Gor Mahia Ring Road in Ndhiwa.
He will also preside over the launch of the Last Mile Electricity project, a Ksh 2 billion investment aimed at expanding power access across the country.
Later, the President will lay the foundation stone for a Technical Training Institute (TTI) in Ndhiwa, a significant step toward enhancing higher education opportunities in remote areas for residents.
After the long day, the will spend his evening at Homabay State Lodge to engage local leaders.

Friday Schedule
On Friday, May 29, 2025, President Ruto will close the Blue Economy Conference at the Tom Mboya University and commission a building.
The president will then preside over the launch of the Maritime Centre of Excellence, a joint initiative between the Kenya School of Law (KSL) and Tom Mboya University.
His itinerary also includes visits to the Homa Bay Pier, the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Fish Market, and the Rangwe Sub-County Headquarters.
The day will end with an inspection of an ongoing road project before the President flies back to Nairobi.
Saturday Itinerary
At 4 pm, President Ruto will hold a meeting with Homa Bay leaders at the State Lodge.

Madaraka Day Celebrations
Sunday will mark the Madaraka Day celebrations at the Raila Odinga Stadium.
An official luncheon will take place immediately after the Madaraka Day celebrations. Later in the afternoon, President Ruto will visit the MFA Wire Forest in Kasipul.
Raila Odinga Stadium
The main venue for the June 1 celebrations, this 12,000-seater stadium has been revamped with new terraces, a canopy, and upgraded facilities to meet national standards.
Built by the county at Ksh369 million, it hosts Football Kenya Federation Premier League matches and symbolizes regional pride.
It will host a three-day conference with President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, and Raila Odinga.
