Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria has expressed his support for the Opposition chief Raila Odinga’s call to revert to the Bomas draft constitution.
In a statement on his Twitter (X) account the Ex-CS stated the call was necessary since the country has not been able to form firm and reliable structures
“I fully support Raila Odinga’s call for a return to the Bomas Draft. Over the last 19 years since rejection of Bomas, we have gone in circles with artificial experiments like Grand Coalition, Handshake and now Broad-Based Government,” Kuria stated
The Ex-CS stated that the rejection of the Bomas draft constitution, has seen the country continue to experiment with different strategies with no results.
“We have skirted around to avoid the inevitable. I will offer my full devotion and commitment towards a National Constitutional conference towards the Bomas Draft,” he said.
Moses Kuria dismisses broad-based government
According to Kuria, the newly formed broad – based government by President William Ruto is another failing strategy that will not have any positive effect to the country.
The head of state nominated a section of the opposition members to form part of his new cabinet in a bid to form an inclusive broad-based government.
Moses Kuria’s statement came after Raila Odinga called for the constitutional review arguing that it would allow the country to become a progressive nation.

Raila stated that the draft constitution should be brought back to the table and make recommendations on how it can be reformed to one which will garner national unity.
“We must go back to the Bomas draft constitution, put it back on the table and see what needs to be cleaned up so we can have a progressive constitution,” he advised.
He further, stated that the draft was as a result of Kenyans who met at the Bomas center and devised a progressive constitution that was bastardised during the so -called Naivasha process.

Likewise, he supported Ruto’s bid to form an inclusive government stating that it was in the interest of national unity that he allowed the members of Azimio coalition to join government but in the confines of its rules and regulations.

“It’s on the basis of that kind of elaborate process that we can then talk about a government of National unity, but we said that if you to take some of our experts and get into your government we release them to join your government and work in accordance with the ethics of our party ODM.
This is what we said we have not changed this position has not changed we said we want to see a new Kenya and the people of are entitled to it,” clarified Odinga.
