United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Secretary General, Hassan Omar, met members of the China-Africa Friendship Group, including Vice Chairman Mu Hong of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at the Great Hall ahead of President William Ruto’s visit to China.
During the meeting, Mu Hong noted that President Ruto’s upcoming trip would be a significant milestone, as it would be the first by an African leader since the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit.
Hong also reiterated China’s commitment to implementing all agreements reached with the Kenyan side.
“China is committed to implementing all agreements reached with the Kenyan side ahead of President William Ruto’s visit to China soon,” Hong said
China Plans Ahead of Ruto’s Visit
Hong stated that the Chinese government remains committed to supporting Kenya’s security and acknowledged Kenya for supporting Chinese government policy.
Further, China’s official highlighted that Kenya is a vibrant East African economy and the leading partner in the FOCAC framework.
On his part, Hassan Omar said that “there is so much in common between the ruling Communist Party and UDA”, citing inclusivity as a key pillar in both parties.
“We are particularly inspired by China’s consultative model, a platform where diverse voices come together in pursuit of common good. Kenya, too, is nurturing a culture of dialogue, consensus, and inclusion,” said Omar.

Kenya Builds Trust with Chinese Government
Hong emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration, particularly in poverty reduction and modernization, to further deepen their relations.
He commended the UDA Party for their warm hospitality and extended towards top Communist Party official H.E Li Xi during his high-level visit in Kenya.

Ruto’s Planed Visit
President William Ruto is expected to embark on a five-day visit to Beijing.
During the visit, President Ruto aims to secure partnerships that align with the country’s long-term development goals while maintaining diplomatic ties.
During the 2024 FOCAC summit, President Ruto secured Ksh40 billion in concessional financing to complete 15 stalled infrastructure projects.
These included roadworkses, energy transmission, ICT connectivity, and water systems spread across ten counties.
Further, Kenya seeks an extension of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Naivasha to Malaba.
