Ofafa Jericho High School (OJHS) is one of the top extra-county secondary schools located in Nairobi County.
Established in 1965 as a boys’ school, it initially operated from the Science Centre at Ngara before relocating to wooden structures in Highridge, Parklands, Nairobi.
In September 1967, following the completion of some basic buildings in Jericho Eastlands, the school moved to its current location.
The International Development Agency (IDA) handed over the buildings to the Kenyan Government, though they were incomplete at the time.
Ofafa Jericho High School history
In January 1968, the school became co-educational when girls were incorporated.
At that time, the school ran a three-stream program from Form One to Form Four
In 1981, it introduced a one-stream A-level Arts class for 40 students, offering subjects like English, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, and History.
However, in 1998, the girls’ section was phased out, leading to the birth of Buru Buru Girls’ School. Since then, Ofafa Jericho High School has remained a boys’ school.
