Popular Super Metro conductor Gerald Mwangi Njoroge alias Makanga Bae has died following a tragic accident that saw one of his legs amputated.
A source close to Mwangi’s family who spoke to The Kenya Times confirmed Mwangi’s death that has left his fans, and many Kenyans in grief.
“Yes, Mwangi passed away after the accident. We ask for support from Kenyans to help us settle the hospital bill which is huge,” she explained.
Super Metro on October 10, 2024, had sent a blood donation appeal for Mwangi after he got involved in an accident at work.
“Mwangi got involved in an accident in the line of duty and he urgently needs us. Kindly let’s support him,” the popular commuter service provider said.

The accident occurred at the ABC roundabout along Waiyaki Way where the driver reportedly pressed the emergency brakes. From the resulting impact, Mwangi was pushed out from the door, and a vehicle ran over him.
He was admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital after the incident and later went in a coma.

The famous conductor was a beloved personality among a section of Kenyan ladies who took notice of his looks.
Additionally, the 28-year-old revealed that he got a lot of attention from people for his appearance, adding that he has an understanding with his partner.
“I get attention from people all the time. My woman has access to my phone. She knows about the attention I get from strangers when am working,” he added.
In a past interview, Mwangi disclosed that his mother was surprised when he decided to work in the public vehicle industry despite being educated.
“My mother was shocked. She said how can I be learned and choose to work as a conductor,” he stated.
Makanga Bae earned a degree in catering and accommodation, but the lack of opportunities got him into the public transportation sector.
He was homeless and jobless before he joined the Super Metro company as a conductor.

Tributes continue to pour in for Makanga Bae following his tragic death. Various people online have sent condolences to the family and friends who knew him.
“Life is a mystery, and you never know when the journey might come to an end. May his Soul Rest in eternal Peace,” one Bravin Yuri commented.
Another online user Romuti _01 stated, “Rest Easy.”
