US President-Elect Donald Trump has publicly celebrated the resignation of the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Christopher Wray.
In a statement, Trump termed Wray’s resignation a victory for justice and the end of what he termed the “weaponization” of the US Department of Justice.
Further, he accused Wray of overseeing an FBI that operated with bias, saying the agency used its powers to threaten and destroy many innocent Americans.
He also accused Wray of raiding his home without cause and working to illegally impeach him.
“The resignation of Christopher Wray is a great day for America as it will end the weaponization of what has become known as the United States Department of Injustice. I just don’t know what happened to him.
“We will now restore the Rule of Law for all Americans. Under the leadership of Christopher Wray, the FBI illegally raided my home, without cause, worked diligently on illegally impeaching and indicting me,” stated Trump.

Trump Announced FBI Director Replacement
“The 45th president of the US has nominated Kash Patel, to take over the director position, saying that he is “the most qualified nominee to lead the FBI in the agency’s history.”
Trump expressed confidence in Patel’s ability to restore faith in the rule of law for all Americans and to rebuild public trust in the FBI.
“Kash Patel is the most qualified nominee to lead the FBI in the Agency’s history and is committed to helping ensure that law, order, and justice will be brought back to our country again, and soon,” added Trump.
“As everyone knows, I have great respect for the rank-and-file of the FBI, and they have great respect for me. They want to see these changes every bit as much as I do but, more importantly, the American people are demanding a strong, but fair, system of justice.”
The president-elect concluded his statement by promising that Patel’s confirmation would mark the beginning of a new chapter for the FBI.

The Announcement
FBI Director Christopher Wray announced on Wednesday, December 11, that he was resigning.
In a statement to FBI staff, Wray shared the news, emphasizing the critical role of protecting and “upholding the Constitution” during his farewell speech.
Further, he told the staff that after weeks of careful thought, he had decided to step down in January at the end of the current administration.
His decision comes amidst mounting pressure from GOP senators and President-elect Donald Trump. Wray is likely to be replaced by Trump nominee Kash Patel.
