Al Hilal have turned its target to Arsenal’s top priority, Benjamin Šeško. The Saudi side hopes to sign the player in time to start training for the FCWC.
This summer’s first transfer window will close today at 10 pm East African Time to allow teams competing at the tournament in the USA to submit their final squads.
With most of the major clubs like Arsenal still mid-way through signing their dream targets for the 2025/26 season, a deadline day signing as a last hope is majorly expected as clubs aim to conquer global football.

Arsenal are aware that with the FCWC starting next week, the transfer window will have to be temporarily closed till June 16th, and Al Hilal will try to use the slight pause today to hijack the deal with the Slovenian.
Other big deals expected
Another team to watch will be Manchester City, who are hoping to be able to register Rayan Cherki from French side Olympique Lyon in time, so as to avoid having to opt to fill their squad with academy players.
Tijani Reijnders, Manchester City’s newest signing from AC Milan, is also expected to be officially announced today as a Man City player after Rayan Aït-Nouri was announced on Monday and commenced training.
French goalkeeper Mike Maignan from AC Milan has also been given an ultimatum to agree to a deal to sign for Chelsea by the deadline today, or they will pull out of the deal.
Chelsea are also participating in the FIFA Club World Cup and need a shot-stopper, and have earlier today raised their bid to avoid a last-minute disappointment.
FCWC Rules
One player cannot play for two different clubs at the Club World Cup.
FIFA Club World Cup has an in-tournament registration period for teams still in the competition from June 27 to July 3.
Clubs can still announce deals they have agreed when the transfer window is shut, but they are just not allowed to register them officially till the transfer window opens again.
Jamie Gittens, the 21-year-old Englishman playing for Borussia Dortmund, is one such player affected by this rule.

Chelsea are looking to acquire the services of the winger, but he might have to wait till after June 16 if Chelsea do not sign him at the knockout stages of the tournament, if he plays for Borussia Dortmund.
This is the main reason why 2024/25 Premier League Champions Liverpool have stopped showing urgency in the Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Florian Wirtz.
Bayer Leverkusen have refused to reduce their price of £130 million and have recently contacted Man City winger Jack Grealish to consider a transfer to the Italian side should the Florian Wirtz deal be successful.
