The Kenya Meteorological Department has released the weather forecast for the period between April 22nd and 28th, 2025. In the forecast published on April 21, Kenya Met predicted that rainfall will continue over several parts of the country. Kenya Met stated that some regions would experience isolated heavy rainfall during the period.
These regions include the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley, the Southeastern lowlands, the Coast, and Northeastern Kenya.
Average daytime (maximum) temperatures of more than 30°C are expected in the Coast, Northeastern and Northwestern Kenya, as well as in isolated areas in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.
Sunny intervals are anticipated in the mornings, though rain may occur in a few places in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over several areas during the first half of the forecast period, reducing to just a few locations in the second half.
Occasional night showers are expected in a few places.
Counties in these regions include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, and Narok.
Turkana and Samburu counties will experience morning rains, as well as afternoon and night showers.
Thunderstorms are likely to occur in a few places during the first half of the forecast period, followed by daylong sunny intervals for the remainder of the period.
Kenya Met Prediction for Nairobi & its Environs
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley and Nairobi County will experience morning rains over a few places during the first half of the forecast period.
Kenya Met predicts afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms over several areas during the first half, reducing to just a few places in the latter half.
Night showers are expected in a few locations.
Other counties in these regions include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi.
North-Eastern Kenya
Morning rains, along with afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms, are likely to occur over a few places, occasionally spreading to several areas during the first half of the forecast period.
This region includes Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties.

South-Eastern Lowlands
This region includes Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County.
Morning rains are likely to occur over a few locations, with afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms also expected.
These may occasionally spread to several areas during the first half of the forecast period.

Coast
Morning, afternoon, and night showers are expected over several locations during the first half of the forecast period.
These are likely to decrease to just a few places thereafter.
This region includes Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County.
